Debunking Web 2.0

Web 2.0 has been hovering on the Technorati top search list for many days now. In case you need an antidote to the hyperactive bloviating of most web pundits, check out Web 2.0 to you too, buddy. It’s a brief but pithy critique of the Web 2.0 hype.

I really DO believe in some of the premises of Web 2.0. In fact, be sure to watch this space for some self-bloviating on the topic. :) In particular, I agree with the emphasis on web communities and social networking. For some reason, though, I’m a wee bit uncomfortable with labeling the gradual evolution of the Web with the pretentious “2.0″ label. Maybe I’ll get used to it. Or, more likely, it will fade away, to join “information highway” in the buzzword junkpile. In the meantime, though, be sure to add it to your Buzzword Bingo cards for the next boring staff meeting.

Ah-HA! Finally found the signup thing so I can leave a comment. Had to remind myself how Wordpress works. :) Glad you enjoyed the post. I’d been meaning to post something for some time; this whole Web 2.0 nonsense has just been building to a head, and I’m not so sure I like its bubble-like tendencies… but at least the interoperability of *everything* should be nice.
