I went last week to a Verizon Store to see if they would upgrade my 6700 to WM6 and was told that they were not going to do it.

I started with Verizon with the Samsung I600 running WSP2002 and they were all about the upgrade to 2003.

I signed up for email notification of new phones through Verizon's webpage and guess what?... I didn't even know the 6800 existed until I went in to inquire about the WM6 upgrade and there it was sitting pretty as can be on the shelf...

I too am disgusted and tired of Verizon's secrecy... too many times their on-line support techs have given me one story only to be contradicted by the store staff... only to be contradicted by their webpage and press releases... they like many companies should be wary of alienating large chunks of customer base especially with the advent of the iPhone and the newest cutting edge tech coming out of Europe and Asia.

I will end up getting a 6800, give my 6700 to my wife and renew my contract for two FINAL years (dependant upon Verizon loosening their sphincter)
but I am one of the weary, wondering how they will sh*t on me then when/if they do.

I bought a xv6800 a week ago, took it back the next day, up to 2:30am with verizon tech people could not get it to connect to vista laptop...

Bought another yesterday and have spent 6 to 8 hours with verizon tech people, can't get this one to work either... email freezes up for hours or will not work at all... Vista refuses to recognize the phone, therefore it can't be synced... verizon techs finally gave up, there are a number key features that refuse to work at all & verizon does not have a clue how to fix any of them... it is a terrible device and have spent over 20 hours trying to make it work... A friend of mine has had his two weeks and he is still trying to get to work, but verizon can't his working either... Bottom line answer from them is it is Microsofts fault...

I had the samsung i760 for 30 days and used the phone extensively. I do about 5000 minutes a month and like the phone but the down down were many. But the phone itself had many easy ways to use it. It was learner friendly. Unfortunatle it locked up 2 or 3 times a day and I had to reboot it to allow it to function properly. Reception was not so good as clients were often asking me to speak up or repeat my statement.
I switched a week ago to the xv6800 and the change was well worth it. Number one is the reception is noticeably better and it hooks up the best of any phone with my blue tooth 700. Some people cannot tell I am on a blue tooth.
Have not had to reboot yet but the learning curve is a little more complicated for me but I am not real sharp with smart phones. Not like the dedicated smart phone thinkers. Wish it was a little faster because it does not process as fast as I would like but it is the BEST I HAVE EVER HAD. Its a very good phone. Nice smart phone features. All in all excellent. I rate it very high.

Gimme a break people. You are going to leave Verizon because the release date of the phone. Verizon unlike some other carriers thoroughly test their phones before releasing. Sprint who has some of the worst service always seem to have the latest and greatest phone, but crap for service. Unless the Sprint coverage area is for 'your' paticular area, then it would be ridiculous to go to them just because of the phone. Phone = nothing if theres no service.

I received the 6800 yesterday and I may return it today after finding my Outlook won't sync due to the version-2000 not being compatible with the latest Active Sync. I accepted the unlimited data plan when I ordered and then called and cancelled it when the phone arrived. No problem. Still wish they had provided an updated Outlook with the software.
